Valued at a total of £1 billion, we have announced the appointment of 94 suppliers to our new Medium Works Framework, which goes live today (Tuesday 17 January 2023).
Successor to the original framework launched in 2019, this second installment of our Medium Works Framework includes reputable construction businesses across the country that have experience in projects across all main sectors. The appointments include 29 parties that have been reappointed from the first iteration of the framework, including a range of regional and national contractors. This framework will run for four years until 2027 and it will provide a compliant and collaborative route to market for public sector clients to procure medium-sized construction projects valued at up to £10 million.
Jason Stapley, Chief Procurement Officer at Pagabo, said: “Our latest announcement sees the return of our popular Medium Works Framework – one of our most active construction offerings, which has seen more than 160 projects procured through it to date. This time, we’ve increased the total number of suppliers by 50 and are expecting to see the results from the old framework improved upon.
“The new iteration of the framework is aligned with all of the gold standard principles of procurement laid out by the Construction Playbook, ensuring that all clients and suppliers will be working at the forefront of industry best practice when it comes to their built environment projects.
“An example of this being through client organisations and appointed contractors being able to use a free version of Loops social value software for all procured projects. This simple benefit making it easier to report on and demonstrate the important social value being generated in our communities.”
We’ve appointed 94 core and reserve suppliers across the four framework lots, which cover value bands starting at £50k and going up to £10m. This provides ample supplier choice for clients, with the geographical breakdown also providing equal opportunities to SMEs alongside large organisations.
Jason continued: “There was a conscious effort to ensure an SME presence in the second generation of our Medium Works Framework and this is proven by 66% falling into that category. We know it can be tough for the smaller contractors to compete with the industry’s largest companies, so we aim to make our frameworks a vehicle for all to flourish. It’s important to remember that some of the SMEs today will be industry leaders of tomorrow given the opportunities to deliver for new clients.”
The Education Alliance will be the contracting authority for the new agreement, continuing its role from the current iteration of the framework.
