From his passion of rugby to working on version 3 of our Contract Manager software, we sat down with our newest Software Developer, Matt Retallick, to find out about how his return to Sypro is going so far.

Hi Matt, could you tell us a little bit about your job as a Software Developer?

As a Software Developer, my job is to maintain and update the codebases of our software at Sypro and across The 55 Group (Contract Manager, Risk Manager, Tequ, Loop, and My Pagabo).

What were your initial thoughts of Sypro?

During my time at university, I completed my placement year at Sypro. Because of this, even though I have only just officially started, I already feel very comfortable here and it is nice to see lots of familiar faces and a few new ones!

Good stuff! What did you do before joining the company? Any skills that you think will benefit you in your new role?

As mentioned, my years at university coupled with my experience working here before, have set me up with all the knowledge and skills required to successfully join the team at Sypro.

What do you get up to outside of work?

Having recently moved back to Yorkshire, I have joined back up with my old rugby team Goole R.U.F.C and am currently back playing in the second team and enjoying being back. As well as this, another passion of mine is fixing up cars, currently I’m working on my r170 SLK.

What part of your role have you enjoyed so far? Any tasks / projects that stand out?

So far, I have been thrown right back into where I left off on Contract Manager version 3 (CMV3) and it’s like I never left. This has been a nice way to ease me back into the role as, after a few successful tasks and bugfixes, it is all coming back to me.

So final question, what’s the next step in your job that you wish to achieve?

Next up for me I will be taking on some bigger tasks on CMV3 to really sink my teeth into some new features and demonstrate skills picked up from my time at Sypro previously and university.

Thank you for taking the time to talk to us, Matt. Good luck with the future of your journey.
