QA Automation Engineer – External Consultant

Responsibilities
Due to a gap in expertise and previous working knowledge, we’re seeking a skilled professional to support our QA team in advancing their automation capabilities. Currently, progress in QA automation has stalled due to limited internal knowledge and a lack of real-world implementation experience.
- Develop a clear roadmap for fully implementing QA automation within the teams.
- Upskill QA team members on best practices and effective ways of working.
- Establish a structured and concise QA model within the software development lifecycle.
- Introduce and implement load and stress testing strategies for our products.
- Collaborate with the Loop team to alleviate bottlenecks, particularly supporting our Junior QA. This will account for 20% of the role’s time allocation.
- Conduct workshops to enhance the QA team’s understanding of automation, tailoring sessions to different experience levels within the team.
- Introduce and implement industry best practices and clearly defined QA automation methodologies, ensuring alignment with organisational goals.
- Develop a sustainable QA automation framework and roadmap that the team can continue using beyond the contract period.

What are we looking for?
Our Software Development teams have traditionally relied on the QA team to conduct manual testing across all products. However, manual testing is time-consuming, documentation-heavy, and often causes delays in the development pipeline.
To streamline the process, the QA team has begun transitioning to automation, significantly reducing the need for manual testing. This shift modernises our approach, enhances efficiency, and improves overall workflow. Currently, this initiative has been self-driven by key team members, demonstrating their commitment to innovation and process improvement.
Responsibilities continued:
-
Weekly interactions with QA team members to ensure the consulting process is delivering measurable results.
-
Regular team meetings to assess the impact of changes, address any misunderstandings, and resolve potential conflicts.
-
Ongoing check-ins with the consultant to review deliverables, ensure alignment, and track progress.
-
Monitoring the implementation of the automation suite across all products to ensure a smooth transition.
-
Building confidence within the QA team, ensuring they understand and effectively apply automation processes.
-
Shifting focus from manual testing to automation, with a clear trend towards increased efficiency.
-
Defining and establishing frameworks and guidelines that are well-documented and consistently applied.
