Lead Developer

Responsibilities
We’re looking for someone to work alongside our Head of Software Development and become our “go-to” person for architectural decisions, leading the technical direction of the software development directorate. This will include:
- Working with the developers to drive best practice, adoption of new technology and standards.
- Prioritising alignment to architectural, development and security standards across the products.
- Ensuring that software quality standards are met
- Designing, building, and configuring applications to meet business process and application requirements
- Directing the development team in all aspects of the software development life cycle
- Writing testable, scalable, and efficient code
- Conducting code reviews and providing constructive feedback to ensure code quality
- Mentoring and guiding team members

What are we looking for?
A Lead Developer with at least 10 years in industry (with at least 2-3 years technical leadership or architecture role) including demonstrable experience of linking the technical aspects of platform(s) to commercial initiatives and projects. Working alongside our Head of Software Development you will be our “go to” for architectural decisions very much spearheading the technical direction of the software development directorate.
You must have a background in web applications development (including frameworks) with a passion to be data driven and know how to lead the design, hosting and deployment of the group’s information, using these insights to drive corporate and customer management information
Skills / Experience Required:

Excellent communication skills showing leadership throughout the teams to help drive change and collaboration

The job requires the ability to analyse information and the use of logic to address work-related issues and problems.

Solid experience with architecture patterns like MVC, MVVM with desired event-driven architectures knowledge.

A passion for solving problems and providing workable solutions.

Experienced in delivering complicated software ‘projects’ over multiple years.

Knowledge of the best practices and procedures of building advanced web applications.

Strong analytical and reasoning skills with an ability to visualise processes and outcomes.

Proficiency in troubleshooting software issues and debugging a large codebase.

Encourage, mentor, challenge junior members and play a part in their development.

Ability to remain calm and level-headed in pressured situations.
